A headteacher has launched a petition for safer crossings near to a primary school after two pupils were hit by cars within weeks of each other.
Jane Bass, principal at Powers Hall Academy, in Spa Road, Witham, is campaigning for Essex County Council to implement safety changes in Powers Hall End after a nine-year-old boy was hit trying to cross the road last month.
On June 11, another pupil was taken to Broomfield Hospital with minor leg injuries after being hit by car in Chipping Hill, near the junction with White Horse Lane, on the way into school.
Mrs Bass has said “enough is enough” and is urging all parents to sign a petition, which was launched in the school on Monday.
