Queues are forming on the A12 after a lorry and a car collided at Boreham.
The northbound carriageway was shut between Boreham and Hatfield Peverel with traffic queuing back towards junction 18 at Sandon.
An ambulance and an ambulance officer were sent to the scene at 10.40am today.
One patient has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Two lanes have now been opened.
