COLCHESTER Photographic Society won the 57th Maldon Challenge Trophy.
A total of 13 clubs submitted eight monochrome prints and six projected digital images.
Harold Mousley, a licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society, judged the competition.
The successful Colchester club members were:
- Roy Essery, of Colchester, for Mother’s Protection and Spinal Abstract
- Colin Westgate, of Mersea Island, for Seljalandfoss
- Robert Macdonald, of Little Bentley, for Female Bonelli’s Eagle with a Pigeon
- Robert Bannister, of Colchester, for Kingfisher Catching a Fish
- Geoff Jackson, of Messing, for Herring Boat Sheds, Lindisfarne, which also won the overall Best Monochrome Image.
Alresford Camera Club came first in the Sudbury Shield competition, scoring 57.5 points out of 60. Colchester Camera Club came a close second, with Clacton awarded third.
John Fryer-Kelsey, a member of the Alresford club, said: “It was a nice end to our season.”
Among pictures entered were North by North West by John Fryer-Kelsey, Shirley Valentine by David Edwards by What These Eyes Have Seen by Mark Rivers.
