A pensioner was sent to hospital with serious injuries after she was involved in a collision with a car.

The ambulance service sent two ambulances and the Essex Air Ambulance to a crash involving a pedestrian and a green Smart car in Tiberius Gardens, Witham, at about 7.30pm on Wednesday.

The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 70s, was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford by land ambulance for further treatment.

She suffered pelvic injuries which are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
