A school's standard was dedicated at a special garrison church service attended by a World War Two veteran.
Children from Colchester’s Montgomery Junior School read poems and gave readings at the service, led by the Colchester Garrison padre, Giles Allen.
It was also attended by Second World War veteran James Nelson, members of the Armed Forces, Colchester Royal British Legion and dignitaries.
The school was the first in Essex to join HMS Heroes, which is affiliated with the legion.
