TV crews were in Mersea to film a new BBC show starring ex-Coronation Street star Suranne Jones.
The actress was spotted filming a number of scenes at different locations on the island.
Crews were parked in the Willoughby Road car park and were seen shooting scenes in the cottages behind Dabchicks Sailing Club.
Suranne, pictured, was also spotted being filmed in the sea having buckets of water thrown over her.
The Gazette understands they are filming a new BBC One medical drama Doctor Foster.
Sue Baines, who managed to grab a quick chat with the actress, said: “I had the great pleasure in having a chat with her lunchtime. She is even prettier in the flesh.
“She loved Mersea and was taking photos to show her husband how nice it was.”
Mersea is becoming an increasingly popular destination for TV and film producers. It has recently been used as a backdrop in thriller Woman in Black 2 and black comedy Chop Chop.
Actor Richard Wilson was spotted filming on the island for an ITV series about the original Shell Guide to Britain.
