HEAD Street has been a busy part of Colchester's town centre for years.

It has seen huge changes and seen lots of businesses come and go.

We've been through our archieves to find some old photos which show how it has changed.

This photo was taken in August 1968.

This picture shows the Halifax bank, which is still there today. It was taken in June 1983.

Before Culver Square. This picture, taken in March 1985, shows the shops which were demolished to make room for the Culver Square Shopping Centre.

This picture, from January 1989, shows the old Post Office building. It is now home to Costa and the Odeon cinema.

We took this photo in March 2002 when the crane used on the work on the new Head Street cinema was removed.
