Opportunist thieves have targeted a church which uses prayer power to combat antisocial behaviour.
Members of a men's choir and a Women's Fellowship group were using Frinton Free Church, in Connaught Avenue, for their meetings when car keys and small change were stolen from their coat pockets.
Police also reported items taken from the cloakroom at Frinton Roman Catholic Church, which is also in Connaught Avenue.
Sgt John Scott, of Walton police, said: "People should not leave any personal items in their coats. If you leave something in your coat and leave it in a public area, it can then be taken by thieves."
Frinton Free Church hit the headlines last week when members conducted prayer patrols on the town's streets, in an attempt to highlight the power of religion to youngsters involved in antisocial behaviour.
