GALE-FORCE winds led to trains being disrupted on a branch line after plastic sheeting blew onto the overhead electric wires.
The debis blocked the line between Thorpe-le-Soken and Walton this afternoon.
Trains continued to operate between Colchester and Thorpe.
Network Rail staff were sent to remove the plastic sheeting from the overhead line.
An Abellio Greater Anglia said spokesman said: "There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 2.45pm."
