A FAST food chain is set to open up inside a supermarket.

International sandwich giant Subway has confirmed plans to run a franchise from inside the East of England Co-op store at Stanway Retail Park.

The move will see seven jobs created.

It is the first time the supermarket chain, which has more than 200 stores in the East Anglia region, has entered into a partnership with Subway.

The Subway branch is due to open next month.

Brendan Smith, who is head of retail operations for the East of England Co-op, said: “Our large and vibrant supermarket at Stanway is at the heart of a busy retail park – a thriving location that was crying out for a food offering.

“We believe introducing a Subway store will be a real attraction not only for our own members and customers but for the thousands of people who live, work and shop in the area.”

Liam Dalgarno, development agent for Subway, said: “We are delighted to be opening our first store with the East of England Co-op. It will make the perfect addition to the retail park.”
