SCHOOLCHILDREN have been skipping their way to healthier lifestyles.

The youngsters at Heathlands Primary School, in West Bergholt, took part in an action-packed day of activities, which included skipping competitions.

The workshop, which teachers took part in, was funded by the school’s parents and teachers association.

Year 6 pupil Joe Davies won the skipping competition, completing 279 skips. Year 2 teacher Jodie Wells was the winning teacher, with 302 skips.

The two fought it out in a “skipoff”, with Joe claiming the title.

Headteacher Jeremy Hallum said the day tied in with the school’s topic on healthy living.

Energy was boosted by blueberries and the day was rounded off with an assembly.

Mr Hallum said: “Promoting health and exercise is the school’s ethos.”

The workshops were run by Skip2Bfit.
