A FUNERAL directors plans to put some egg-citement into Easter for people in need.

Abbey Funeral Service has launched an appeal for businesses and individuals to donate Easter eggs for distribution to those less fortunate.

This is the first time the company, based in Drury Road, Colchester, has taken part in the scheme, which is part of a nationwide project by parent company, Dignity.

Funeral director Lynda Wood said she hoped generous donors would come forward.

She said: “We have sent letters to lots of companies and, hopefully, we will be able to give them to a good cause.

“Donations have already come from Tesco and some of our neighbours.

“For children in hospital, hospices, or for other people who are vulnerable, they may not get the chance to have things like sweets or chocolates.

“We will decide a little nearer the time which cause we decide to donate to, but we want to keep it local.”

Easter egg donations should be dropped off at the company.
