SINGING sensation Natacha Montille is hoping to escape the dreaded “nul points” when she takes the stage to represent Switzerland in Eurovision.

Instead, the highly-regarded vocalist, who teaches singing in Colchester, is hoping to be celebrating with some Bucks Fizz – even if it is at the expense of Great Britain.

The singer hails from what is becoming Colchester’s singing stable – Call Assist call centre – in North Station Road, which is where X Factor favourite Stevi Ritchie worked before tasting success.

Natacha had all given up on singing in front of millions, but when her cousin asked her to take part in an audition, she jumped at the chance.

Amonth later, she was picked to represent her country of birth at one of the most well-known singing contests in the world.

Natacha will be back up singer to cousin Mélanie René in singing the Swiss entry Time to Shine during the competition, in Vienna, in May.

The 27-year-old, who lives off Turner Road, Colchester, said: “When she asked me to go and sing the song with her, I was like ‘yeah, definitely’.

“I couldn’t pass that up.”

The pair were one of six Swiss hopefuls who took part in the trials in Kreuzlingen in January.

After an excruciating wait, they were told they had been selected.

Natacha, who was born and grew up in Switzerland until she was 15-years-old, added: “I still can’t believe it. It is such a big thing and it is watched by millions of people across the world.”

The pair have already caught themselves being star struck, after meeting last year’s winner Conchita Wurst.

The mum-of-two said: “We did take a few selfies. You have to, haven’t you? We were so excited.”

They will be heading to Vienna for the grand final on Saturday, May 23. Natacha and Mélanie are part of a musical family who are “always singing”.

She added: “Mélanie was the one who really pushed herself and wants to become a recording artist.”

If Natacha wants any tips on how to deal with fame, Stevi Ritchie is only a phone call away.

She said: “We are good friends and we’ve kept in touch since he left and he’s very supportive.

“The success he has had has been great.

“It must be something they put in the water!”
