A FILM portraying the story of Colchester paratroopers trapped in an Afghan minefield will be premiered in the town this week.
Kajaki will have its regional premiere at the Odeon, in Head Street, on Thursday.
Veteran Stu Pearson, who is based in Colchester, will be there along with director Paul Katis and executive producer Gareth Unwin-Ellis, who is a Bafta and Oscar award-winner for his work on the King’s Speech.
Kajaki tells the story of paratroopers in Afghanistan in 2006 who were trapped in an old Soviet minefield at Kajaki Dam.
A patrol was sent to disable a Taliban roadblock, but a desperate rescue effort was sparked after one of the men detonated a landmine.
The screening, at 7.30pm, is open to the public.
It will then be shown throughout the week.
