THIS was the moment Jordan Armstrong got her arm stuck in a letterbox and had to be rescued by firefighters.

Jordan, 18, said she thought she might be flexible enough to open her sister’s Colchester front door from the inside.

That was when she realised she wasn’t.

Sympathetic friends call the fire service – but also added to Jordan’s embarrassment, by posting pictures of her plight online.

Firefighters used a crowbar to wedge open the letterbox after being called to Jacksons Walk, Colchester, at 2.30am on Saturday.

The former Colchester Institute student said she had been to a party near sister Anja- Marie’s home and needed somewhere to spend the night.

She added: “I’d had a bit too much to drink and I couldn't walk all the way to my house.

“I thought I’d go and stay at my sister’s, but she wasn’t home. As I was drunk, I thought my arm would be bendy enough to reach in and open the door.

“The fire service and the ambulance crew were absolutely amazing – even if they did had a laugh at my stupidity.

“Thankfully, I woke up in the morning and I was fine.”

Sister Anja-Marie Armstrong only found out about the drama the following morning when she saw Jordan’s pictures online.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “Medics remained at the scene, but the patient was not taken to hospital.”
