Witham man arrested after 72-year-old woman run over at zebra crossing
A man from Witham has been arrested after a 72-year-old woman was struck while using a zebra crossing in Southend.
The 31-year-old was arrested at 7.15pm on Saturday at an address in Witham on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until January 10.
The woman remains in a serious condition at hospital.
