SIX people have has their bail extended following an alleged attack on a grieving family.
The family visited Highwoods Country Park to release a balloon in memory of a stillborn baby girl.
The baby’s father, his three children and a female friend were planning to hold a memorial ceremony..
Instead, theywere set upon by a group of people, who burst the balloon and attacked the family.
The father was repeatedly kicked and punched on the ground, the friend was punched in the face and suffered two broken fingers and the three children, aged between 11 and 17, were also attacked.
Six people were arrested shortly after the incident.
The six – men aged 21 and 23, women aged 20 and 26, and a boy and a girl, both 14 – were questioned and freed on police bail while investigations continued.
They reported to police on Friday under the conditions of their bail and have now had bail extended until November 12.
