A WOMAN has been told she could be jailed for stealing from a playgroup.
Amanda Tracey, 45, of Dugard Avenue, Colchester, stole thousands of pounds from Stanway Pre-School while she was chairman of trustees and acting treasurer.
She admitted five counts of fraud and three theft charges, including taking £3,900, when she appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday.
Speaking after the hearing, Lisa French, joint manager of the pre-school, said she was pleased Tracey had admitted the crime.
She said: “I had known her for more than ten years and she was a good, trustworthy person.
“What she has done was a real betrayal."
