A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a horrific attack involving a kebab cleaver in Wivenhoe.
It happened on the corner of East Street and High Street at about 10.30am this morning.
A man aged in his 60s was rushed to Colchester General Hospital after suffering severe injuries to his arm.
The victim and a bailiff were visiting a shop to execute a court order when a man came at him with the huge machete.
He backed off before a man slashed at him slicing through the arm he put up to protect himself.
Paramedics arrived and rushed him to Colchester General Hospital.
His injuries are no longer believed to be life threatening.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing screams following the incident near Wivenhoe’s riverfront.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody for questioning.
