A MAN was robbed of a brand new mobile telephone during a violent street robbery in Clacton.
The 32-year-old was walking along Marine Parade West towards Jaywick when he was punched from behind.
He was hit by two of the gang of five men.
He suffered a cut to his cheek during the attack, which happened between 9pm and 10pm on Friday.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “He was pushed from behind and punched by two men in a group of about five.
“He fell to the ground and the carrier bag he was holding was snatched from his hand.
“It contained a newly purchased mobile phone and his wallet was taken from his pocket.
“The wallet was black leather with the name of the victim's grandfather inscribed inside.”
The main suspect was wearing a black hooded top and grey tracksuit trousers.
Anyone with any information about this incident, or who finds the wallet, is asked to call Det Con Linda Whiting, at Clacton CID, on 101.
