ESSEX’S Police and Crime Commissionder described the wrongful arrest of a man as disgraceful and highly regrettable.

Nathan Wacey, 35, of Empress Avenue, West Mersea, who is awaiting trial for allegedly making threats to kill and harassment, was arrested on suspicion of a bail breach.

He was accused of making a phone call to police from Chelmsford, breaching a condition he must not leave Mersea island or contact police, except for an emergency.

He was arrested, charged and held overnight before appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court the next day.

Mr Wacey was released from court with no further action. He lodged a complaint and is now suing the force.
