FAST-FOOD restaurant McDonalds is really living up to its name.

The drive thru restaurant, off the A12 at Colchester, has been been built off site before being dismantled and delivered in blocks.

The pieces are now being put together and the new state-of-the-art two storey restaurant is due to open in five weeks.

As well as serving up burgers and wraps, it will have Ipads in the dining area, remote kiosk ordering in the dining area and an external covered play area.

There will be about 150 seats inside the restaurant and 100 seats outside.

A total of 125 new jobs are being created by the business, which is opposite the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Colchester already has three McDonald restaurants – in the town centre, Cowdray Avenue and in Stanway.

Colchester franchisee Craig Newnes, who owns and operates the restaurants, said: “Being part of the Colchester community is hugely important to me and I’m thrilled to see the impact our jobs contribution, in particular, has made to the area.

“I am firm a believer that you need to be part of a community to be successful in that community and, as such, I am passionate about giving young people the chance to get workplace experience.”
