A DJ hopes to raise thousands of pounds for charity – by tipping ice cold water over volunteers’ heads.
Scott Dewing, who hosts Turn it Up, at Silk Road, in St Botolph’s Street, Colchester, is seeking volunteers.
The ice bucket challenge sees people put their feet in a bucket of freezing water to raise awareness and money for Macmillan cancer charity.
But Mr Dewing is taking things a little further. He said: “Not only will we be tipping water over volunteers’ heads, we’ll be making them wear fancy dress.
“We want to make it as much fun as possible, but we want to raise a lot of money for a very worth while cause.”
The DJ added: “I think it’s something everyone with a Facebook page will know about and anyone who’s up for a bit of fun should come forward.
“We’d like to get as many people as possible.”
Volunteers can decide what costume to wear. Each will be asked to set up a Just Giving page to receive sponsorship.
There is no minimum amount.
The event is on October 1.
