Torrential rain and hail flooded a restaurant and caused it to close for the evening.
A sudden downpour yesterday afternoon left the main seating area at Le Talbooth, on Gun Hill, Dedham, under water.
Staff cleared the water, but had to cancel dozens of bookings.
The restaurant plans to open as normal today.
Sue Bunting, marketing manager, said: "It was like a river coming through."
