First published in News

AN award-winning north Essex hotel has completed a £500,000 refurbishment.

The Stoke by Nayland Hotel, in Keepers Lane, Leavenheath, has a new reception and boutique-style lobby and has already been upgraded by Visit England to four star silver status.

Its hotel lounge and many of the bedrooms have also been spruced up as part of the investment.

Tamara Unwin, hotel and spa director, said: “As a family business we are continually striving to perfect our offering to customers and members.

“Having achieved AA four star status and other recent business awards, we are delighted to be able to continue to ensure customers’ experience the highest possible quality of facilities and service in all areas.”

A paper that puts the Essex County Hospital in Turner Road can hardly be expected to know which county Leavenheath is in. But be grateful that we have a local paper at all.

I was more concerned why the Stoke by Nayland hotel isn't in Stoke by Nayland.
Should it not be called the Leavenheath Hotel?

No wonder the Gazette thinks it's in Essex.

Oh but it's got a Colchester postcode...so it's Essex....but under Babergh district so it's in Suffolk!

Well as long as the hotel is nice now. It was all a dated when I last went.
