THE number of people claiming jobseekers’ allowance in Colchester has dropped by more than one thousand in the past year.
In July this year there were 1,750 claimants compared to 2,770 the previous year.
Across Essex there are now 15,171 people claiming JSA, according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics this morning.
Last year there were about 23,500.
