A CAMPAIGNER launched a one-woman fact-finding mission outside Essex County Hospital ahead of its impending closure.

The hospital, in Lexden Road, is due to go on the market in October ahead of its closure next spring, and is likely to be sold for housing.

Annesley Hardy, who lives in nearby The Avenue, wants residents to have a bigger say on what happens there in the future.

She stood outside the hospital during opening hours for three days asking people what they would like to see at the site.

TheBrotherhoodOfTheBell says...

It should never have been given the nell to close.
The policy of the new chief of the NHS is to have more smaller cottage units, operating in synch with the larger post Blairite dinosaurs.
Closing Essex County will be the last nail in the box to the origins of the towns history, next to ruining Jumbo and building more VAF and Sports Centre/Leisure World, government funded fiascos.
The conspiracy theory here is that the Turner Road corporate white elephant, wants to remain big and strong like an out of control TRANSFORMER, hospitals such as Essex County are seen as a threat to their ideals and world.
This overgrown killing machine will become completely out of control and will become a post apocalyptic prophecy akin to the The Forbin Project. All at the expense of hospitals like Essex County:
