Lightning wreaked havoc across Essex last night.
The county was hit by torrential rain from between 8pm-10pm and lightning is understood to have struck several buildings, including a house in Basildon, one in Braintree and a conservatory in the Maldon area.
Reports on social media suggest the lightning struck a chimney in the Braintree, causing the resident’s television to blow.
Lightning also struck a conservatory in Latchingdon.
In Basildon, lightning struck a house causing a fire.
