LITTLE ones who were left devastated after their story telling chair was vandalised by yobs celebrated as it was brought back into use.

The vandals struck at King’s Ford Junior School, in Gloucester Avenue, about three months ago, but today it was used for the first time since the incident.

Designed by Colchester artist, Sarah Warren, the mosaic chair was repaired by school caretaker Martin Hughes.

He was even able to preserve the broken back of the chair and use it in the new base.

Karen Wallace, school head, said: “We were devastated when the chair was broken and we couldn’t allow the children to go near it.

“Now we are able to read stories together and celebrate having our chair back.

“We couldn’t be more delighted.”
