POLICE have released details of a man seen following Nahid Al-Manea days before her death.

Police want to speak to a man identified by witnesses as walking behind two women at around 8.45am on Friday, June 13.

Witnesses believe that one of these women may have been Nahid Almanea.

The man was seen to follow them as they came out of a house in Stanley Wooster Way, Colchester.

He is described as white, in his 30s, around 5ft 10ins tall with short, dark hair. He was dressed casually and was wearing dark jeans.

He also had a local Colchester accent.

A week on the murder officers have also set up check points around the area, asking if they were there at the same time last week.

Leaflets and posters, which have also been produced in Arabic, are also being handed out.

Detectives are also looking at a possible link between the killing of Saudi student Nahid Al-Manea and a man filmed near Lower Castle Park, Colchester, hours before Jim Attfield’s death.

Police are still trying to trace seven men captured on CCTV in Middle Mill, hours before Mr Attfield’s murder on March 29.

One of them was wearing a coat similar to the jacket being worn by a man spotted on the Salary Brook Trail around the time Nahid’s body was found.

The man leading the hunt, Det Chief Supt Steve Worron, said the coat could connect the two murders.

He said: “Yes, this is one line of inquiry. I must stress, it is not the only line of inquiry."

Police want to speak to a man, wearing a light brown jacket, who was seen on the Salary Brook Trail between 10.20am and 10.40am on Tuesday, June 17, walking from the direction of Essex University towards Greenstead.

Nahid was found with 16 stab wounds at 10.39am.

The man is described as between his late teens and 30, with thick, short, black hair, clean-shaven, of average build, tanned and not wearing glasses.

He was wearing a light brown Italian designer-style jacket, slightly longer than waist length, with brown buttons on the front and two pockets, with buttons on.

A man wearing a similar jacket was captured on CCTV in Middle Mill on Friday, March 28, at 10.56pm, though it is hard to be sure it is the same jacket because the CCTV image is poor quality.

Mr Attfield was found dead on a riverside path, opposite houses in Guildford Close, on Saturday, March 29, at 5.50am.
