Pupils at St Luke's CofE Primary School in Tiptree had a taste of Victorian discipline as the school celebrated its 150th anniversary.
The entire school - including the staff and the 312 pupils - all dressed in 19th century costume as they marked the landmark birthday.
The children were taught in the style of Victorian education, with teachers ensuring they sat up straight at their desks and stood up when someone came into the room.
Head teacher Gordon Malcolm said: "It was a marvellous day, it was so much fun.
"For the children, it was about bringing the past and the present together."
