POLICE have cordoned off a footpath after a man tried to assault a woman late last night.
The woman was jogging in Peache Road, Colchester, at about 10pm when she was approached by a man who lunged at her.
She was able to push him away and get home.
Police officers cordoned after the footpath towards Port Lane and searched the area.
A man was located who fitted the victim’s description.
The man, aged 19 from Colchester, was arrested on suspicion of attempted assault and other unrelated offences.
He is currently in police custody.
The incident happened just days after student Nahid Al-Manea was murdered on a footpath in Greenstead.
A police spokesman said: “Detectives from the murder investigation are looking closely at this incident but there is nothing to link it at this time.”
