A HEADTEACHER has vowed her school will do better after Ofsted ruled some teaching was weak and progress was poor.
Harwich and Dovercourt High School has been told by inspectors the school “requires improvement” in pupils’ achievement, quality of teaching and leadership and management.
Inspectors, who visited the school in May, said: “students’ achievement across the range of subjects is not yet consistently good. In science, students’ progress is poor because teaching is often weak.”
Acting headteacher Lynne Gettings said: “I feel it is a balanced report and the staff are committed to taking on the challenges Ofsted have left us with.
“The inspector has recognised that staff are not complacent and there is a desire to strive for the very best.
“Whilst we have not yet met the Ofsted criteria of being judged good overall, we are confident that this will be the case at our next inspection as we continue our drive to raise standards in all aspects of school life.”
