TWO people have been left homeless after a house fire in Dovercourt.

Firefighters were called to the end of terrace property in Oakland Road shortly after 7.30pm on Tuesday.

The first floor of the property was well alight and the ground floor was 50 per cent alight.

By 9pm the ground floor fire was extinguished and the first floor was under control however the loft area was heavily smoke logged.

Crews from Dovercourt, Manningtree, Weeley and Colchester tackled the blaze and had extinguished the fire by 2.19am on Wednesday morning.

The cause of the fire is unknown and the fire service will carry out an investigation to establish the cause.
