Police are appealing for witness after four people were hurt in an attack at the Colchester Medieval Festival.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Four people were assaulted during an event at Colchester, the incident happened at a medieval fayre in Castle Park at about 5.30pm on Saturday.

"Three women and a man from Colchester were assaulted by several different suspects who had been among a group of men."

He confirmed the police were investigating whether a Nazi salute, allegedly held by the attackers, had played a part in the assault.

The man and two of the women were punched in the face, and the third woman was punched in the back of the head and kicked in the leg.

One of the attackers is believed to be in his 50s, is described as having a pot belly and was wearing a flat cap.
