PALS are still waiting for closure a year after their friend’s unexplained death.

Former Colchester schoolgirl Lucy Simms was found dead at her home a year ago today.

But despite numerous toxicology tests, detectives still have no idea how Miss Simms, 26, died.

A jailed rapist, Lloyd Philips, was quizzed in connection with a murder investigation into her death, but no charges have ever been brought.

He is serving 11 years in prison after he was convicted of two counts of rape and four counts of serious sexual assault on a 22-year-old Hampshire woman.

He is understood to have been at the property before Miss Simms’ body was discovered, in Vinery Road, Southampton, on June 4.

But now friends fear her death will never be solved.

Ian Richards, a close friend with Miss Simms before she left Colchester and moved to Southampton, where she died, said: “Lucy deserves better than this and so do her family. They deserve answers and they haven’t got them."
