Colchester United’s chairman has been given permission to build 103 homes on land near their training ground in Tiptree.
An application to build the homes, a village green and allotments in Grange Road has been given the go-ahead by Colchester Council.
Robbie Cowling has been told he must plant trees and install a First World War memorial plaque as part of the landscaping scheme.
Some villagers objected, saying there are not enough facilities in Tiptree to deal with the new homes.
