ST Helena Hospice is consulting staff about changes it says will improve care.
The charity, based in Highwoods, Colchester, which looks after people with lifelimiting illnesses, is developing changes to its day and community services.
A redundancy consultation is being held with some staff as part of process, but the hospice says the number of employees is likely to increase.
Mark Jarman-Howe, chief executive, said: “It is our intention to improve the care we offer patients, on top of the beneficial changes we have already recently made.
“These will improve the care we can provide to meet the needs of the growing numbers of people with life-limiting illnesses and their families and carers who need our support."
