Gazette: Police hunt for escaped prisoner known to have links to Essex Police hunt for escaped prisoner known to have links to Essex

POLICE are hunting for an escaped prisoner who is known to have links to Essex.

Paul Oddysses, who was serving a life sentence for attempted robbery and armed robbery, escaped from Hollesley Bay Prison in Suffolk, on Saturday.

Members of the public have been warned not to approach him.

Police were contacted by the prison just after 1pm reporting that 49-year-old Paul Oddysses had left the premises at around 12:30pm.

Oddysses is described as white, around 5ft 6ins, of thin build, with brown hair, brown eyes and clean shaven. He also has a scar on the back of his head and tattoos on both arms.

He has connections in the Hertfordshire and Essex areas.

The prison runs a scheme of having offenders working in the community, as they prepare for life on the outside,  but it is understood Oddysses was not allowed to leave the jail.

Prisoners serving life time are allowed to be moved there if approved by a parole board.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen him or anyone with information about where he is to contact officers.

If you can help please contact Suffolk Police or your nearest police station using the national police number 101.
