DETECTIVES are searching for a car spotted near the scene of a burglary in Colchester.

A home in Garthwood Close, West Bergholt, was broken into earlier this month.

Crooks got in through a rear window and stole about 20 items of jewellery including ruby rings, diamond necklaces and pearl earrings.

The burglary took place on May 9 between 12.15pm and 12.45pm, with details released today.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Police have had reports of a vehicle acting suspiciously in the area described as a green or silver saloon car with a partial index of GK57."
