A CHARITABLE foundation raised more than £4,000 during its first event.

The Tom Bowdidge Foundation was set up in memory of the inspirational West Bergholt teenager, who died last year fighting stomach cancer.

A dinner and dance was held at Jimmy’s Farm, in Suffolk, on Saturday, which more than 100 people attended.

Tom’s dad, Richard Bowdidge, said: “It was such a fantastic night and to raise more than £4,000 was amazing.

“We were very humbled.”

He added: “It was a great mix of family and friends and friends and it was a great opportunity to spread the word.

“It was exactly the type of night that Tom would have loved.”

Bar staff at the restaurant also donated their tips from the evening.

A team of fitness fanatics are set to take on a fun run to raise money for the Tom Bowdidge Foundation.

Neil Hildred, Noel Gambling and Antonia Gambling will take on the Turks Head 10k race in Twickenham on Sunday, June 8.

The trio will wear a 36lb rucksack sack and Army clothes and boots, similar to that worn during the Paras 10.
