SCHOOL kids were a picture of health when they were given a taste of fruit and veg.

Pupils from St Andrews Primary School, Friars Grove Primary School and Market Field School joined staff at Waitrose, off St Andrew’s Avenue, in Colchester, to find out about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Children were given a tour of the branch, had a chance to taste different fruit and vegetables and had fun completing a healthy food-themed quiz.

They also took a range of different fruit and vegetables back to their schools to present in assembly.

It was part of the Waitrose Business in the Community’s annual Give and Gain Volunteering Day, which took place on o Friday.

Mark Partridge, Waitrose Colchester branch manager, said: “It is such a rewarding opportunity to be able to support the health and wellbeing of our local community.

“We were really looking forward to being involved again this year.

“Our Partners have really enjoyed sharing what we do with our customers to help them adopt a diet that allows them to live well.”
