THE Shadow Secretary of State for Education had to pull out of a campaign drive in Colchester today after his wife was taken ill.
MP Tristram Hunt was due to join fellow Labour councillors, borough council candidates, Labour candidates for European Parliament and activities in the town.
They spent the afternoon talking to residents about the elections for both Colchester and the European Parliament.
Colchester councillor Tim Young said: "We had a really good turnout and received a positive response from the public who were glad to engage with us about the forthcoming elections."
