FRIENDS will remember a long-serving postman who died while on his rounds with a fundraising event.

Rob McGenn, 40, of Armoury Road, West Bergholt, suffered heart failure while working in St John’s, Colchester.

Despite paramedics’ attempts to revive him, he died in Evergreen Drive, in November.

On Sunday, former colleagues have organised a fundraising event, which will see a Postman XI go up against West Bergholt FC, Mr McGenn’s local team, in a football match.

There will also be a fundraising raffle, which includes prizes such as Colchester United signed footballs.

There are also a selection of prizes which were sent by Nottingham Forest, the team Mr McGenn, who joined Royal Mail aged 18, supported.

Proceeds from the event, which runs from 12pm to 4pm at West Bergholt Football Club, in Lexden Road, will go to the British Heart Foundation.
