A FAMILY have become avid Liverpool fans after an anonymous punter donated his betting slip predicting they would win the Premier League to their fundraising cause.

Sophie Munnery organised a race night to raise cash for her daughter Maisy, 9, who suffers from blindness, epilepsy and cerebral palsy which brought in £1274.50.

However one generous gambler pledged his bet which was made in February for the Reds to secure the title at odds of 14-1, which could bring in more than £700.

The family are now fully behind Liverpool but it is proving to be split loyalties for husband Matt who supports bitter rivals Manchester United.

“I have never really been into football before but Matt has had to swallow his pride and is now rooting for Liverpool,” said Sophie.

“It adds so much suspense to the next couple of weeks because the extra money would make such a difference and we still believe they can do it.

“The man just handed over the envelope on the night and said he wishes to remain anonymous.

“I could not believe it when they lost on Sunday but I think there is still a really good chance for them to win.”
