A BIG screen could still come to Colchester - at a fraction of the price the council was originally quoted.
Colchester Council threw out the idea of installing a screen in Castle Park to show major events after it was told it would cost £70,000 a year.
But it has now emerged the screen could be delivered for as little as £16,000 a year.
It would be used to show sporting events as well as open air cinema during the week and at weekends.
The project is being co-ordinated by Ben Howard, an event promoter in Colchester, and Ben Payne, who runs events company Illuminate Design, based in Whitehall Industrial Estate, Colchester.
Mr Howard said: “Too often in this town, we are told we can’t do something and we just accept that."
