A MAN has been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of Jim Attfield.
And several weapons have been found following searches of the lake and River Colne.
The 33-year-old, from East Bay, Colchester, was found near Castle Park on Saturday morning stabbed 102 times.
A 38-year-old man from Colchester has been arrested after being stopped by armed police in Cowdray Avenue earlier today.
He is currently being questioned.
Det Chief Insp Simon Werrett said: "I would urge members of the public to continue to call my team with any information they might have about the whereabouts of James Attfield or anything they may have seen or heard in the Castle Park area during the early hours of Saturday morning."
"This is very much a fast moving and on-going investigation which really needs information from the public.”
A spokesman for Essex Police added: "A variety of weapons have been found including knives.
"It has been a very productive search and it will continue into tomorrow."
Cordons are expected to remain in place over the weekend.
