A MAN has been charged with a string of offences after an incident which left two police officers injured.

The officers were dragged along by a car as they tried to make an arrest following a drugs search in Clacton yesterday afternoon.

The Audi A6 crashed into the front of a Shell filling station in Old Road.

The officers suffered minor injuries and were later able to return to duty.

Stephen MacLaren, 40, of St Albans Road, Clacton, has been charged with dangerous driving, obstructing the police, possessing heroin and two counts of common assault on police officers.

He is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

A 37-year-old woman who was arrested at the scene has been bailed until June 26 pending further inquiries.
