EMERGENCY services will be out in force across north Colchester today.

Representatives from Essex Police, Essex Fire Service will join Colchester Council workers in a Day of Action in Mile End.

Residents will be offered crime and fire prevention advice.

There will also be a computer at the council’s mobile unit, in Mill Road, linked to Essex County Council’s website, which residents can use to report pot holes.

The North Essex Parking Partnership 'spy car' will also be patrolling outside Queen Boudica Primary School, in Cowper Crescent, and Myland Community Primary School, in Mill Road.

At 3pm, a mock road accident will take place and onlookers will be able to watch on as emergency services staff deal with a “casualty” outside Queen Boudica Primary School, in Cowper Crescent.

The event was organised after residents were asked what issues most need addressed in the area.

More than 300 people responded to the survey, citing parking, dogs and dog mess, pot holes, traffic, speeding and litter.

Tim Young, borough councillor responsible for community safety, said: “This is the Safer Colchester Partnership’s 16th Day of Action.

“These events have proved extremely successful, with work completed providing numerous benefits to local communities.

“By working in partnership with a number of other agencies, we can make a real impact on the issues that matter to the local community.”
