A DELIVERY driver has been robbed at knifepoint in broad daylight.

Detectives are looking for an armed man who stole thousands of pounds from a man in John Harper Street, Colchester, just yards from a primary school and nursery at 2.15pm yesterday.

The driver had parked his van in the street while he made a delivery to a Chinese restaurant in North Station Road.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "The driver had walked back to his vehicle when a man threatened him with a knife and demanded cash.

"He was robbed of a shoulder bag"

The bag contained thousands of pounds.

The suspect is white, about 5ft 9ins tall and aged in his late 30s. 

He is large with short cropped hair and was wearing large mirror sunglasses, a dark fleece-style top, jeans and dark-coloured shoes.
